Tapir processing techniques
Cutting
At Tapir Tapes we saw, cut or cut log rolls to customer-specific widths. Parting off or cutting is not a machining technique because we displace the material with a toothless knife. Water is used as a ‘lubricant’ so that there is no adhesion to the blade and no glue transfer takes place.
Cutting or parting seems like a simple job, but we have developed and improved our own techniques over the years. We find it very important to continuously deliver quality to our customers. For this reason, all cutting settings are saved at customer and order level.
When sawing, there is machining and we remove material. We apply this to solid, hard rolls such as certain types of protective film. Sometimes the material is so solid that we cannot displace it, such as when parting off or cutting.
